When sewing with stretch velvet, you will notice the nap runs smoothly one direction and not so much the other. When cutting out your pattern, take note of this and place your pattern pieces so that the nap will run smoothly as you run your hand down the garment (ie from the waist to hip). Depending on your pattern, you may need additional yardage.
